Could video marketing be one of the best things you could do for your real estate business?
What’s up everybody, Mike Oddo here. Today let’s talk about if making video for your real estate business could be one of the best things that you’ve ever done?
Well, video does a number of different things for you in the real estate business. The main thing is, it continues to connect you with your prospects in a way that’s meaningful and creates rapport for you in your market, specifically with those particular prospects.
So, if you look at what I’m doing, right, if you’re watching this video right now, let me tell you what’s gonna happen. You are going to watch more of my videos or at least be exposed to more of my videos. I’m going to re-target you with more videos. And as you watch more of those videos, I’m gonna re-target you with some more. And then ultimately, I’m going to re-target you again with some ads to buy my product.
Why am I telling you this? Because as real estate agents, you should do the exact same thing. And it’s very simple to do. One of the things that happens with video, the cool part about it is it’s memorialized. In other words, it stays around on the web forever because the web is written in ink, right?
So now you are in my world. Let’s say you watch 10% of one video. Well then we add you to a new audience and if you watch 20% of that video, then we add you to a new audience, and we can just keep going with this, right? Until we ultimately have an ad, right, that you see that says “buy Mike’s stuff”. That’s what I’m doing here.
You guys think I’m crazy, ’cause I’m making all these videos, but actually, I’m not. This is a pretty awesome marketing form. It’s the same type of concept that we actually implement for our customers. What we do, and what we know, is that the customers out there, they’re not looking for a real estate agent, so they’re not going to come in based on viewing your video and then become a customer.
I don’t care what content you put out there, the consumer doesn’t shop based on the real estate agent, they shop based on the what? The house.
Now, when they’re going to sell their house, they might shop based on the real estate agent, they might shop based on the commission. They might shop based on a number of different things but let’s talk about buyers because that’s gonna fit my example a little bit better.
They’re gonna shop based on the house! Every single lead gen platform out there, whether it’s Realtor.com, Zillow, Market Maker, what have you, right? They are going to advertise homes or lists of homes at what’s called the ‘top of funnel’. It’s a fancy term for the ad that is shown to the prospect itself, talking about searching for homes. So, once they’ve come into that funnel, and they’ve clicked on that and are now they’re searching for homes, it’s time to distribute content to them to build your authority and status in the mind of that prospect.
What happens is, if you look at most real estate agents that have done video, number one they’re not consistent. They don’t do it consistently because I’ll tell ya, it’s a pain in the butt. It takes a lot to make videos like this on a consistent basis. Number two, they don’t see an impact that’s immediate from it, so, well they give up and instead look for something that gives them instant gratification.
The problem is they don’t understand the power of being able to do this consistently and put this in front of their prospects. What happens in this example here is that they watch a percentage of the first video, guess what that says? That says that they might be interested in you or the product or the topic, right? So if they watch a percentage of the next video, a higher percentage, now we know that they’re interested.
So now it’s time to take it to the next level. Think of it like dating, right? Now it’s time to maybe become exclusive, right? So that’s the way that marketing is done today. And if you’re finding that your advertising and your marketing is becoming less and less effective, that’s because it truly is.
It’s becoming more sophisticated with these different platforms and you have to stay ahead of the curve. If you are not distributing content to your leads based on their behaviors after they’ve become a lead, based on their specific motivation and timing you aren’t doing it right.
In other words, giving them the right videos, the right content at the right time and having that done automatically, where you don’t have to lift a finger which includes making it exclusive and starting to display ads to them on a re-targeting basis. If you don’t know what re-targeting is, that just simply means that, if you’ve seen a vacuum cleaner on Amazon and you go over to another site like Facebook, for example, and you’re scrolling through and then you see that vacuum cleaner there, that’s re-targeting.
